Last week, I briefly mentioned my story's title by posting a quote from the Publishers Weekly review of the anthology. Here's the official reveal of the title, with much greater fanfare . . .
The story is called "Emmeline," and I'm pleased to announce that it's a companion to In the Shadow of Blackbirds. It takes place before the novel occurred and involves a side character: Jones, one of the wounded young veterans from the Red Cross House. The story does stand on its own, however, so don't worry about feeling lost if you've never read In the Shadow of Blackbirds.
I'll probably be able to share more about the actual plot of the story in the coming weeks. Slasher Girls and Monster Boys will be available from Penguin August 18, 2015.
“Cat Winters’s ‘Emmeline’ is a haunting story of love and loss in wartime . . . This is satisfying, disturbing horror for the modern YA audience.”
—Publishers Weekly
“Gross, creepy fun.”
