I've been busily working away on edits for my Summer 2015 adult novel, The Uninvited, but I need to come up for a quick breather to share some exciting news about my rapidly approaching October 2014 YA release, The Cure for Dreaming.
First of all, if you're a reviewer, librarian, bookseller, author, or anyone else who typically receives advance reading copies, I'm thrilled to announce that The Cure for Dreaming is now available to request on Netgalley! Please note that not everyone who requests a galley will receive one. Approval is entirely up to the discretion of my publisher, Amulet Books.
In other news, I'll be appearing at the 2014 ALA Annual Conference in Las Vegas. If you'll also be attending the event, here's where you can find me:
Saturday, June 28, to Sunday, June 29, 2014
2014 ALA Annual Conference
Las Vegas Convention Center, 3150 Paradise Rd, Las Vegas, Nevada
Sat., June 28, 2:30-3:00 pm—Abrams/Amulet Book Buzz
Sun., June 29, 8:30-10:00 am—YALSA's YA Author Coffee Klatch
Sun. June 29, 2:00-3:00 pm—Signing The Cure for Dreaming ARCs at Abrams Booth #628
I will be doing some other traveling at the end of this month as well and will have limited access to email. I also have a mid-July deadline for The Uninvited, so I won't be tweeting, blogging, or answering emails much at all until after that point.
Happy summer!

Oregon Spirit Book Award
I'm incredibly excited to announce that In the Shadow of Blackbirds was named the winner in the Young Adult category of the Oregon Spirit Book Award for 2013. The award in presented by the Oregon Council of Teachers of English (OCTE). April Henry's The Girl Who Was Supposed to Die and Bridget Zinn's Poison were named honor books in the Young Adult category.
Only Oregon authors were eligible for this award, so I know several of the authors whose books appeared on the 2013 Oregon Spirit Book Award shortlist, including one of my buddies from my weekly writing and coffee dates, Teri Brown (Born of Illusion, Born of Deception), and fellow Corsets, Cutlasses, & Candlesticks member Susan Hill Long (Whistle in the Dark). Congratulations to everyone!
Huge thanks to the OCTE for bestowing this honor upon In the Shadow of Blackbirds!
