Meet Winifred, my new mascot.I've been collecting blackbird, crow, and raven items ever since I started working on In the Shadow of Blackbirds, and my daughter found this new little friend for me at our grocery store tonight. Winifred is eerily realistic for a cheap find in the Halloween discount section, but I'll keep her by my side during my journey with this book.

That bird looks freakishly real. At first, I thought you had pulled the image off the internet somewhere. Wow.
It's actually a cheap little Halloween decoration, but I love how realistic it looks. I thought it would be funny to put it in front of my laptop for a photo--which I would never do with a real bird! Ick.
I'm glad you have a little "friend" when you write!
My little friend has been a nice lucky charm.
